The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team, won its 2005 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener, defeating the University of the Sciences on Wednesday, evening the Highlanders overall record at 1-1 as their CACC mark went to 1-0.
NJIT won the first four singles matches in impressive fashion, as Eva Salierno won at first singles, 6-0, 6-1; Chiori Koike won at second singles, 6-0, 6-3; Deepti Sanjai won at third singles, 6-0, 6-0; and Rebeca Solorzano won the fourth singles match, 6-3 and 6-4.
Sanjai and Koike combined for an 8-1 win in first doubles, while Salierno and Solorzano took the second doubles match, 8-2.
USP won the fifth and sixth singles matches, as well as third doubles.
