NEW HAVEN, CT -
New Jersey Institute of Technology freshman setter Danielle Thompson is the latest women's volleyball Rookie of the Week in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, the CACC announced today.
In a 2-1 week for the Highlanders, Thompson averaged 9.67 assists and 3.17 digs per game.
In the week's only loss, a marathon 2-3 defeat vs. Holy Family last Wednesday, Thompson had 37 assists, 20 digs and 7 kills.
In a CACC tri-match at Dominican, she matched her season high, with 46 assists against the hosts, while also collecting 12 digs, 5 kills and an ace. In the second match of the day, a rematch with Holy Family, she led NJIT to a 3-2 win, picking up 33 assists and 6 digs.
Thompson was a two-time all- New York state honoree in high school and she led her Ward Melville HS to a 2004 state championship. An Architecture major at NJIT, she is the daughter of Donald and Renee Thompson.
NJIT, which is 3-4 in the CACC and 3-9 overall, will host Philadelphia University in a conference match Tuesday at 7 pm . The Highlanders will visit Bloomfield on Thursday and then play a CACC tri-match at Wilmington (DE) with Bloomfield on Saturday.
