NJIT Blanks Georgian Court, 3-0

NEWARK, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology's women's soccer team defeated Georgian Court, 3-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday evening at Lubetkin Field.

The Highlanders are 5-1-1 in the CACC and 5-4-1 overall, while the visiting Lions are 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

The only goal of the first half came at the 2:34 mark, as Erika Taugher's cross into the box was knocked in by a Georgian Court defender for an own goal.

The score held at 1-0 well into the second half, before NJIT freshman Emma Vinski was taken down in the penalty area, setting up a penalty kick goal by senior captain Erin Salgado at 72:59.

The goal was the first of the season and 12th in the career of Salgado, who is tied for second on NJIT's career goals list, one shy of the record 13.

Taugher wrapped up the win with her team-leading fourth goal of the season, striking from 20 yard out in the 7 th minute. It was the 10th career goal for the sophomore, who is alone in fourth on the career goals list.

Highlander goalkeeper Bruna Lotufo posted nine saves in the game earning her school season-record fifth shutout. Lotufo has five shutouts in eight games for NJIT.

Georgian Court goalkeeper Melissa Rauth made 12 saves with three goals against, NJIT out-shot the visitors, 24-10.

The Highlanders will travel to Dominican on Wednesday, October 5th for another CACC match with a 3:30 start.
