NEWARK, NJ - Kristy Haeckel's superb attacking night led the way for New Jersey Institute of Technology in the Highlanders' dominant 3-0 win over visiting St. Francis of New York in women's volleyball Wednesday night in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.

Haeckel, the freshman from St. Louis, MO, paced the Highlander attack with an impressive .636 attack percentage, notching 15 kills, with only one error in 22 attack attempts in NJIT's 30-18, 30-10, 30-10 win. Rebecca Wilkinson was also strong, registering 6 kills without an error in 9 attempts.

NJIT setter Danielle Thompson had 31 assists, while freshman Kasha Hornstein was the match leader in service aces (5) and the team leader in digs (10). The Highlanders, who have been a strong serving team in most of their matches, again dominated that category, with a 12-3 advantage in aces over the visiting Terriers. Sabrina Baby had 4 aces for the NJIT. Blocking wasn't much of a factor, as NJIT had a 2-1 lead, behind Haeckel's two block solos.

The victory over St. Francis raised NJIT's home record to 5-2 in the Highlanders' first season of competition at the NCAA Division I level. Overall, they have eight wins, with three matches--two at home--remaining on the schedule. Next up is a home match on Saturday at 2 pm against Maryland Eastern Shore.
