NJIT women's tennis athlete Ksenia Kuzmenko, from Moscow, Russia has been selected as NJIT Female Athlete of the Week for her performance during the America East Women’s Tennis Championship.
The senior went 4-2 during the weekend. She defeated Hartford’s Ashley Harel in first singles 6-0, 6-1 and went on the win 8-1 in double with the help of teammate Jana Luste. The Highlanders won the match 4-0.
In the semifinals against Binghamton Kuzmenko again went 2-0 as she and Luste teamed up again for an 8-4 double victory. She then defeated Katya Medianik 7-6,6-1 in first singles. The Highlanders upset second-seeded Binghamton to win the match 4-3.
In the Championship match the Highlanders faced Stony Brook. The Seawolves won 4-0 capturing their third straight America East title. Kuzmenko faced the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament Polina Movchan, and lost 6-0,6-0.
