Junior Brian Mendez placed first at the 2011 Collegiate Track Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at Liberty State Park hosted by Stevens.

Mendez, the Highlanders junior, was the overall winner with a time of 26:38.04.

The NJIT men placed second with 65 points behind Rowan, who claimed top honors as a team with 36 points. Fourteen institutions participated on the 8K course in the multi-divisional race.
