NJIT Men’s Lacrosse Releases 2018 Schedule

2018 Men's Lacrosse Schedule

NEWARK, NJ
– The 2018 men's lacrosse schedule will feature four first-time opponents in Delaware, Saint Joseph's, UMass and Georgetown fourth-year head coach Travis Johnson announced.

The Highlanders concluded the 2017 season 1-14, dropping four games by only three goals or less. NJIT broke four program records last season: goals in a game (17), assists in a game (14), points in a game (31) and face-off wins (19), including 12 individual records.

With construction underway on-campus for the new Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium, which is scheduled to open in Fall 2018, the Highlanders home field for the upcoming season will be in Madison, NJ, on the campus of Drew University - Ranger Stadium.

"We're excited for the 2018 season!" Johnson commented about the upcoming spring season.  "To have a 16 game schedule that enables our guys to continue to develop while playing as many games as we are is awesome.  This if by far the best schedule we have had in terms of time between games which we hope allows us to continue to work on individual skill development, but also allows us to better prepare for each game."

NJIT will open up against Lehigh for the third consecutive season on February 3.  The Mountain Hawks have the 2-0 advantage on the Highlanders and advanced to the Patriot League quarterfinals last season.

The Highlanders will open at home against Lafayette on February 10, after dropping a nail-biting 12-11 loss last April. This will mark the third all-time meeting between the two programs.

NJIT will travel to Army and first time opponent Delaware before hosting VMI to round out the month of February.  Last season, VMI came out on top, 9-8.

March will feature six-out-of-seven matches on the road.  NJIT returns to Quinnipiac and Princeton to start off the month before heading to first-time opponents, UMass and Saint Joseph's. The Highlanders will visit Fairfield and Wagner before returning home to welcome Manhattan on the March 31.

The Highlanders will visit MAAC regular season champions Monmouth on April 7.  The Hawks advanced to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

On April 14, NJIT will host Hampton on Senior Day, honoring the first round of seniors that started as freshman in the Highlanders first year as a varsity lacrosse program at NJIT. The Highlanders broke four program records last year in the 17-3 victory.

To round out 2018, the Highlanders will have two overnight trips. On April 21, NJIT travels to first time opponent Georgetown and a week later will visit UMass-Lowell.
