Ryan Bradway Leads NJIT Men's Lacrosse at Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Tigers earned their first men's lacrosse win of 2016,  topping NJIT 21-4 on Saturday.

NJIT (0-3) was led by sophomore Ryan Bradway, who tallied one goal and two assists, while Jesse Rice scored his first goal of the 2016 season. Also adding goals were freshman Aaron Forester, and sophomore Joe Lomeli.

The Tigers (1-0) were led by Zach Currier, who finished the day with a game-leading four goals and three assists. Ryan Ambler added two goals and three assists, while Riley Thompson posted three goals and two assists.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the 12th minute with Currier's first goal The Highlanders made it even at 1-1 when Rice received a pass from Bradway in the middle, finishing in the top left corner. Princeton scored six unanswered goals to end the first period up 7-1.

The Tigers did it again in the second period, 6-0, to go into halftime up 13-1.

Bradway scored NJIT's second goal of the game in the ninth minute, and just minutes later, Forester connected with Bradway for a nice pass and finish in the seventh minute. The Highlander defense held Princeton to four goals in the third period, making the score at the end of the third period 17-3.

Lomeli scored his sixth goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to 15 games, in the tenth minute of the fourth quarter. With three more unanswered goals from the Tigers, the score at the end of the game was 21-4.

Starting goalie Nick Marzullo made four saves in 25 minutes, while freshman Cameron Cronk recorded two saves in 36 minutes.

Tyler Blaisdell earned the win for the Tigers, recording three saves, while Matt O'Connor tallied four saves. Oliver Schmickel also appeared for Princeton.

The Highlanders host VMI on February 27, at Drew University, time TBD.
