EIVA Official Release

BRONXVILLE, NY--Alvaro Gimeno and Luca Berger were named Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Brian Snow of the EIVA Conference announced Monday afternoon.

Gimeno, the Highlanders newcomer, notches his first EIVA Offensive Player of the Week while Berger, a sophomore transfer, records his first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week award of the year.

In a 2-0 week for the Highlanders, Gimeno recorded 28 kills (4.67kps) while hitting .393 in six sets.
 
On Friday, Gimeno recorded 13 kills while hitting .478 and added three service aces.
 
The following day he would finish with 15 kills and hit .333 while adding one service ace.
 
Gimeno currently ranks second in the EIVA in kills per set (3.44), third in kills (217) and service aces (33), and fourth in points (266).
 
Berger paced the Highlanders to a 2-0 week, recording eight total blocks in six sets as he recorded four total blocks in each match, finishing the week with 1.33 total blocks per set.
 
The 6-foot-3 middle blocker produced 12 kills while hitting a .417 hitting percentage. He ranks fourth in the EIVA in blocks per set (1.00), sixth in total blocks (56) and block assists (48), and tenth in solo blocks (8).
