NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team is set to open its 2018 spring campaign, hosting a two-day Winter Invitational this weekend at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility on the campus of NJIT.
The two-day Round Robin will feature four teams: Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth, Bucknell and host NJIT in a flight play format. The two-day tournament will stream live on PlaySight. Play starts at 9am on each day.

Tournament Format
Over the two days, each position of one through sixth singles, and one through third doubles will get to play three singles matches and three doubles matches against an opponent from another school at the same position. Opponents will be scheduled ahead of time in a random order.
Match Format
All singles matches will be two of three sets, with a superbreaker in lieu of a third set, no-ad scoring. All doubles matches will be six game pro sets, with a tiebreaker at 6-all, with no-ad scoring.
Schedule
Warm-ups begin each morning at 8am. One court per team. On Saturday, first round of doubles starting at 9am (beginning with first doubles and working down through third doubles), followed immediately by the first round of singles, then the second round of singles (in a 1-6 order).
On Sunday, starting at 9am, will be the first two rounds of doubles, followed by the last round of singles.
A Look at the Highlanders
The Highlanders return nine players from last season while adding two newcomers –
Tomi Antoljak and
Abdullah Osman.
Antoljak, comes to NJIT after playing two seasons at University of Nebraska, where he was named 2017 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Academic All-Big Ten and earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Osman, who joined the Highlanders in January, hails from Cairo, Egypt where he attended St. Fatima High School. Osman comes to NJIT ranked No. 1 nationally in Egypt and in the top 400 in the ITF.
Sophomore
Aleksa Petrovic, an ASUN All-Freshmen team honoree last season, combined for a team-best 16 overall wins.
Senior co-captain
Richard Rangga recorded 15 wins followed by classmate
Zac Castagna (14),
Jan Cimrman (11) and Pablo Arruita (10).
