BRUSSELS, BELGIUM—The NJIT men's basketball team came up short Friday, 85-78, against Brussels, which plays in Belgium's first basketball league, the Ethias League.
NJIT was paced by
Winfield Willis who combined for 15 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from behind the arc.
Freshmen
Damon Lynn and
Vlad Shustov came off the bench and scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Highlanders. Lynn went 4-of-9 from three-point range while Shustov was 4-for-5 from the free throw line and pulled down five rebounds.
Forward
Terrence Smith was one-point shy a double-double, notching nine points and 11 rebounds.
Ky Howard added nine points for NJIT.
The Highlanders shot 85 percent from the free throw line (11-for-13) and held a slight advantage over the home team on the glass, 35-to-33.
NJIT will return to action on Monday, August 26 against Juvissy at 7:30pm in Paris, France.
