MEPPEL, THE NETHERLANDS—NJIT sophomore
Winfield Willis led all scorers with 20 points as the visiting Highlanders topped the Meppel Red Giants, 83-57, in the first of five games on the scheduled European Trip.
Willis, a transfer from Clarion, shot 5-for-9 from the field, 4-of-7 from behind the arc and 6-for-10 from the free throw line. Forward
Daquan Holiday combined for a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore

Damon Lynn each produced 13 points.
The Highlanders knocked down 11 three-pointers as a team and dished out 15 assists. Willis led the way with four three-pointers while notching a game-high five assists.
NJIT will return to action on Thursday with a game in Belgium against Oudenaarde on August 22. Oudenaarde is a member of Belgium's second league. In the next game, the Highlanders will face Brussels Basketball in Belgium's capital city on August 23. Brussels Basketball plays in Belgium's first league, the Ethias League.
