Read Odera Nweke's blog about his experience so far in Amsterdam. Odera is a junior from Richmond, Texas, near Houston.
Here is the second blog of the trip:
What's up y'all! We just finished day two in Amsterdam. We're all having a great time!
We began the day enjoying our first breakfast at the hotel. Some of the food seemed weird, they focus a lot on cheese. The waffles and syrup were also awkward but the croissants were amazing.
After breakfast we went shopping around the city. The is city is so nice and easy to get around. Of course the popular decision was to hit the Nike Store and Footlocker.
One of the things I noticed was that there aren't a lot of overweight people. Maybe because the foods are so fresh and usually healthy. There is also Burger King and McDonald's for some of the players who are scared to try new foods. For me, the most interesting food that I ate was french fries (believe it or not) but instead of ketchup they served it with a "Dutch Mayonnaise". It was pretty good and they give you a lot. And mostly everyone speaks both English and Dutch, so the language barrier doesn't have that large of an effect.
To cap off the night, we had our first game of the trip. The team played great! And you could tell that some of our freshman needed a little extra time to adjust to the physicality while the older guys adjusted pretty easily.
It was tough for me to watch on the sidelines though (knee injury) but I felt happy for my team pulling out the win. The final score was 83-57. Coach was pleased by how well the team responded to the different style of play that our older opponents showed.
Next up for us is a free day packed with exciting tours. I know I'm having a great time because I have yet to turn on the television.
Thank y'all for all the continuing support.
