LYNBROOK, NY—The NJIT women’s tennis team won its third consecutive match, going to Long Island and defeating Hofstra, 4-2, at the SportimeNY courts Sunday evening.
The Highlanders (3-1) got wins at first, third, fourth and fifth singles to take the match from the home team (1-2). Doubles matches were not contested due to time constraints.
Nina Mayevska won at first singles, topping Hofstra’s Zoe Taylor, 6-4, 6-0. Ana Lidon prevailed at number three, 7-5, 6-3 over Malissa Gilanchi. Isha Toor won handily in the fourth slot, 6-1, 6-2 against Christie Gattelaro and Fanny Aizier was a 6-1, 6-3 winner against the Pride’s Brook Sailor in fifth singles.
The next scheduled match for NJIT is on Saturday at 8 pm against Howard at the Bogota Racquet Club in Bogota, NJ.
