Men's Tennis Tops Saint Peter's, 5-2

JERSEY CITY – The NJIT men’s tennis team topped Saint Peter’s 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Yanitelli Center recording the team's first victory of the 2010 season.
Saint Peter’s began the match taking the first two doubles contests, 8-1 and 8-6 before NJIT’s doubles pair Bryan Keelan and Dan Salomon rebounded for an 8-0 win at the third spot. Salomon won by identical scores, 6-2, 6-2 over Saint Peter’s Luccas Popisil at sixth singles.
In singles, Stephen Erickson (first), Carl Lundquist (third) and Dimitri Athans (fifth) were victorious for NJIT winning in straight sets.
Senior captain Cosmin Chiujdea went the distance at fourth singles falling in the first set 3-6 but bounced back with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The Highlanders return to action on Saturday at 8 pm when they host Bryant at the Bogota Racquet Club.
