Sacred Heart Nips Highlanders, 4-3

NEW HAVEN, CT – Sacred Heart nipped the NJIT women’s tennis team, 4-3, Saturday evening in the 2010 spring opener for both teams at Yale University.
NJIT’s Nina Mayevska captured second singles match, defeating Sacred Heart’s Darcy Demers, 6-1 and 6-2. Other singles winners were: Isha Toor (6-2, 6-4) at fourth singles and Fanny Aizier, who took the fifth singles match by a score of (6-4, 6-0).
Highlanders’ doubles pair Mayevska and Toor won 8-3 at first doubles topping Demers and Julianne Kasinow. Sacred Heart recorded wins at second and third doubles.
The Highlanders will return to action on Sunday at 1:30 when they visit nearby Saint Peter’s.
