The NJIT Highlanders (6-11, 1-1 GWC) will host Great West Conference opponent Chicago State (7-13, 2-1 GWC) on Saturday at 2pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center. … Chicago State leads the all-time series 3-1.

NJIT went 1-1 last week to open conference play in Texas.  The Highlanders fell in the opening game at Texas-Pan American, 62-54, but bounced back with a victory over Houston Baptist, 80-73, where junior #Jessica Gerald led all scorers with 30 points and Ivana Seric# recorded her second career double-double, 17 points, 10 rebounds.

Gerald is the only double-figure scorer for the Highlanders with 15.5ppg.  Seric, who is coming off back-to-back double-doubles is averaging 7.7ppg and 6.4rpg.

Chicago State also split last week and come to Newark with a 2-1 record in the conference.  The Cougars defeated Houston Baptist, 71-57, and lost at Texas-Pan American, 70-60.  The Cougars other conference victory came over Utah Valley, 77-53, on January 9.

The Cougars had two players post double-doubles in its win at Houston Baptist, Natalie Marlow (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Caila Desroches (10 points, 11 rebounds).

Sisters Courtney and Alyssa Waldon lead Chicago State averaging (13.1ppg; 11.1ppg) while Courtney ranks first on the team with (106 rebounds, 5.3rpg) and shoots (80 percent; 21-26) from the free throw line.
