Swimming Travels to Siena

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The NJIT men’s and women’s swimming teams competed at the Siena Quad Meet Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Shawn Bryan had a strong performance in the pool picking up two third-place finishes and swam the first leg of the men’s 200-yard freestyle relay which finished second. In the 200-yard freestyle, Bryan finished at (1:55.55) and in the 100-yard freestyle (50.34). The 200-yard relay team which consisted of Bryan, Jonathan Van Ostenbridge, Andrew Helbers and Dan Carrera finished with a time of (1:35.98). Canisius placed first at (1:32.00).
NJIT’s Edwin Walker took third in the men’s 50-yard freestyle (24.04) and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.66).
The women, competing against Siena, Bryant and Canisius were led by sophomore Rachael Abadie in the 50-yard freestyle (8th; 26.90).
The Highlanders will return to action on Wednesday at 6pm when they travel to Montclair State.
