JERSEY CITY, NJ – The NJIT women's fencing team competed at the 78th Annual NIWFA Christmas Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Cobra Fencing Club.
The all-day event, sponsored by the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association, involved competition in three weapons --foil, sabre and epee.
Freshman Kristen Hagen had a strong individual showing in the foil competition advancing to the third-round. Hagen finished 10th. Andrea Camargo and Jennifer Ramos finished tied for 21st.
Sophomore epee fencer Macarena Maldonado finished 20th out of a field of 42 competitors.
Women's fencing returns to action on January 9 when they compete in the Penn Tournament.
