FARMVILLE, VA – NJIT men’s soccer player Chico Lugo has been named Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Week for matches through Sunday, October 11, coordinator Stuart Smith from Longwood University announced Monday afternoon.
Howard’s Victor Thomas was selected Goalkeeper of the Week stopping 16 saves in 110 scoreless minutes in a 0-0 double overtime tie to Adelphi. Houston Baptist’s Kyle Oehring tabbed Rookie of the Week honors recording his first collegiate goal last week.
Lugo, a junior, from Clifton, NJ, scored the game's only goal for NJIT in a 1-0 men’s soccer win over visiting Longwood University Saturday afternoon in the Highlanders’ Atlantic Soccer Conference opener.
On the season, Lugo has three goals and six points. Two of Lugo’s three goals have been game-winning goals.
Lugo and the Highlanders will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Lehigh for a 7pm match.
