COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -
Three New Jersey Institute of Technology men's volleyball players--Eduardo Welter, Christianssen Siddayao and Rodrigo Correa, rank among the national NCAA Division I-II statistical leaders through matches of February 6.
The statistics are maintained by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Welter, a sophomore outside/opposite hitter from Brazil, is ranked among the national leaders in service aces per game, kills per game and points per game. Siddayao, a junior libero from Clifton, NJ, is among the national leaders in digs per game and Correa, a freshman setter from Brazil, is ranked in assists per game.
Welter, who led the nation in service aces per game as a freshman, is second this season at .708 aces per game. He is 14th in kills per game (4.17) and 13th in points per game (5.08). Points per game is calculated by combining kills, aces and blocks and dividing by the number of games played.
Siddayao, who plays the defense-oriented libero role for NJIT, is tied for 16th in the nation with 2.48 digs per game.
Correa's 11.13 assists per game are good for 18th in the national Division I-II statistics.
Matches are best of five games, so a regular player will typically have three to five games in a match and the statistics are per game, not per match. Team won-lost records are based on match results, with one win or loss per match, regardless of the number of games. NJIT's match won-loss record is 4-3, but the Highlanders have played 24 games.
